Gynaecological Ultrasound: Bleeding after vaginal delivery or caesarean section
Persistent bleeding after having a baby occasionally affects a woman in the post-natal period. This can be a normal variant due to hormonal changes after the birth of the baby, but sometimes this means that there may be retained placenta, tissue or clot. Under these circumstances, an ultrasound scan is extremely valuable in assessing the cavity of the womb.
In women who have ongoing bleeding following vaginal delivery or more rarely after caesarean section, OMNI can exclude the presence of retained placenta, tissue or clot. This enables your Obstetrician to plan appropriate management and follow up.
